- Volunteer Receptionist & Administrator (Harrow)

Days: 1-2 days per week (days are flexible)How you can help
Volunteer Receptionists/Administrators are really important and provide a warm welcome to the people coming into our services.
The role can include:
- Covering reception duties, answering the telephone and welcoming people into the service
- Undertaking administrative tasks such as filing, archiving and photocopying.
- Supporting the collection and inputting of service data.
- Working with local and national databases.
You’ll also be expected to participate in team meetings and carry out other tasks where necessary to support the needs of the service.

- Volunteer Young People’s Practitioner (Barking and Dagenham)

Location: Barking and Dagenham
Days: 1 day per weekHow you can help
As a Volunteer Young People’s Practitioner you’ll:
- Support staff to deliver workshops in schools and youth settings
- Support staff to deliver key work sessions
- Support staff in uploading assessments onto the case management system
- Help out on health promotion stalls to raise substance misuse awareness at partnership events
What skills do you need?
The role would be ideal for someone looking to develop their experience in the drug and alcohol field. While some knowledge of the sector is desirable, we are specifically looking for people who have a passion for the work that we do. A positive attitude and the desire to learn are essential, as is a non-judgmental and supportive approach to people who are facing problems with drugs and alcohol.

- Volunteer IT Trainer (remote working)

Location: remote working
Days: 1-3 days per weekHow you can help
The aim of this exciting new role is to support the people who use our services to gain the IT skills they need to engage with our services remotely and connect with their families, friends and community.
The Volunteer IT Trainer will also assist in upskilling staff, volunteers and peer mentors to ensure that our people have the digital skills they need.
Training and support will be delivered virtually to individuals and small groups of learners, equipping them with a working knowledge of Zoom, Teams, email and using the internet.
As a Volunteer IT Trainer, you will design and deliver a range of training sessions to the people who use our services and our staff and volunteers.
Your role will include:
- Assessing the IT needs of individuals
- Producing a range of supporting materials, including quick-reference guides and video demos
- Delivering virtual training and support (via Teams/Zoom) in both group and 1-2-1 settings
- Managing the IT training calendar and scheduling courses
- Maintaining records of attendance and achievement
- Attending and participating in team meetings, and working closely with colleagues across Via.

- Volunteer Recovery Practitioner (Cheshire West and Chester)

This role would be ideal for someone looking to develop their experience in the drug and alcohol field. While some knowledge of the sector is desirable, we are looking for people who have a passion for the work that we do. A positive attitude and the desire to learn are essential, as is a non-judgmental and supportive approach to people who are facing problems with drugs and alcohol.
Volunteer Recovery Practitioners are a vital part of our services and help with a wide range of care and support.
This can look like:
- Advising people on drug awareness, overdose prevention, safer injecting, safer sex practices and other harm minimisation advice (you’ll receive training and support to do this).
- Supporting staff to complete service user assessments (you won’t be asked to carry out the first assessment we do with an individual).
- Supporting staff to run groups.
- Helping people to access other services and support in the local community.
You’ll also be expected to participate in team meetings and carry out other tasks where necessary to support the needs of the service.

- Volunteer Smoking Cessation Advisor (Redbridge)

Location: Redbridge
Days: 1-2 days per week (days are flexible)How you can help
This role will help to promote smoking cessation support inside and outside the service, working collaboratively with the team.
The role can include:
- Supporting the running of the smoking cessation clinic, such as booking appointments, any correspondence, and answering enquiries from clients.
- Liaising with professionals and community groups to promote the service and encourage them to refer people for support.
- Helping to maintain appropriate records so we can track and meet key goals.
- Supporting community engagement and awareness events across the borough.
Volunteer smoking cessation advisors also have the opportunity to shadow and observe other professionals delivering this type of healthcare and will be supported to interact with people seeking help. They can also attend training to enable them to gain experience as a qualified smoking cessation advisor.
