Questions about rehab

What is rehab?

At Passmores House, we see substance dependence as a way of coping that isn’t helpful in the long run. Our rehab programmes are designed to help you manage past triggers and avoid future relapses, including: one-on-one sessions, group therapy, and complementary treatments.

What’s the average time for rehab?

Rehab programmes usually run for about 12 weeks, but we can work with you to make sure the programme suits your needs.

Why do people go to rehab?

There are many reasons people go to rehab. Some want to break free from substance use and others look for support to manage triggers or prevent relapse. Rehab provides a safe, supportive space to understand the causes of dependence, develop healthier coping skills, and work toward lasting recovery.

How will rehab help?

Through our rehab programmes, we aim to help you to manage your previous triggers and prevent you from having future relapses.

Is rehab confidential?

Your privacy is our priority. We handle your personal information with care and only share it with your consent on a strictly need-to-know basis. The only exception is if there’s an immediate risk to your safety or the safety of others.

What does a rehab programme look like?

Our rehab programme consists of a mix of one-to-one sessions with a support worker, group work and complementary therapies.

We’ve got a wide range of groups available for our residents which include topics such as:

  • Addictions
  • Effective communication
  • Healthy living and nutrition
  • Physical exercise
  • Relapse prevention
  • Self-awareness
  • Mood management
  • Relationships
  • Complementary therapies
  • Mutual Aid

Questions about detox

What is detox?

When you are dependent on alcohol or drugs, stopping suddenly can be quite uncomfortable and, in some cases, very dangerous. A detox is a procedure where you will be medically monitored and supported to come off the substance you are dependent on relatively comfortably and safely.

How long does detox take?

The length of your detox varies depending on the substance, the amounts used, and any other physical and mental health conditions. We don’t have a ‘one size fits all’ approach and each treatment is personalised to everyone who comes to us.

What types of detox treatments do you offer?

We provide detox services for alcohol and opiates, including stabilisation and detox for opiates like methadone, buprenorphine, morphine, and opiate painkillers such as nasal fentanyl. We also offer detox for other substances, including GBL, ketamine, kratom, loperamide, stimulants, and benzodiazepines.

Our expert team, including 24/7 on-site nurses and daily medical support from specialists such as our Consultant in Addiction Psychiatry, general psychiatrists, GPs, and other psychology input, ensures you receive the highest quality support throughout your detox journey.

Family & carers

Can I visit a loved one?

Families are welcome to visit on Sundays after 14 days and with agreement from staff. Telephone calls are permitted and can be arranged with staff. If you have young children, it is possible to call them three times a week – this will be arranged with staff.

How do I make a professional referral?
