Dr Charles Young

Charles is an Emergency Physician at Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Trust in London and Chief Medical Officer at Infermedica.

As well as his clinical roles, Charles is a specialist adviser to the UK’s National Institute for Health and Care Research, Editor in Chief of Oxford University Press’ medical journal Research Connections and Non-Executive Director at Your Healthcare.

In the past Charles has been Executive Editor at The Lancet medical journal, Editor in Chief at the British Medical Journal Group, and Vice President for Health Publishing at Wiley.

He also worked as a specialist adviser to the UK’s National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for over 10 years, was Senior Medical Officer at Capita, and Senior Health Adviser to the Royal National Institute for Deaf people (RNID).

Charles is based in London but travels internationally and teaches regularly on topics which include clinical governance, digital health, and critical appraisal of published biomedical research.
