It can be very dangerous to stop drinking alcohol if you’re physically dependent on it. If you think you’re dependent or you experience any withdrawal symptoms when you stop drinking/go without a drink for a few hours, do not start Month Off Booze.
The symptoms you might experience if you’re dependent are:
- shaking hands or ‘the shakes’
- sweating
- hallucinations
- blackouts and/or seizures
If you’re worried about your drinking and think you might be dependent, or you’ve experienced these symptoms when stopping or reducing your drinking before, you can still take control of your drinking and we can help you to do that. Please contact us on HarrowMOB@viaorg.uk or 0300 303 2868.
Alternatively, you can talk to your GP to help you reduce your drinking safely. You can also take Alcohol Change’s online quiz to check your drinking here.
